Roberta Ponzoni, answers your questions about weaning in a short course made up of three meetings, dedicated to mothers who are going to face this period of change and want to deal with it in the most natural way possible.
In general, the weaning period can range from 6 to 12 months (the first 6 months of exclusive breast milk is the ideal food, complete and sufficient and after 12 months the child can eat like us) .
The transition from the breast to "baby food " is often a difficult transition for many parents and often the difficulties also affects the children. There are different patterns of weaning and certainly, many are valid, but, what about the cultural and social value of food? Weaning should not exclude these issues but be incorporated into introducing new foods to children.
The best time to start weaning is suggested by your own child, for this it is called self-weaning, the child decides for itself when it's time to try something different! Understanding this is simple: if your child shows interest in what you eat then you can safely begin weaning. The "what and how" to introduce your baby will be the focus of these three meetings.
